Point, shoot, welcome!
This journal is a collection of my visual outputs, a record of the things I see and find beautiful in their own right. That said, this particular image isn't necessarily proof of that philosophy. For most of my career, I've been on the other side of the lens, working as an art director and designer, directing photographers for various clients. Perhaps that's why I now feel so comfortable being the one pulling the shutter.
These days, I shoot with either a Leica Q2 or a Fujifilm X-T5 with various lenses. The Leica, with its fixed Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH, is currently my favorite toy. The boundaries of that fixed 28mm force me to think more deeply about composition; it slows me down in a way I find genuinely interesting. And while the Leica's color rendering is second to none, I find myself mostly shooting in black and white.
For now, this is pure fun. But I do put real work into it from time to time, and who knows, maybe in retirement, I'll finally make the leap from art direction and design to full-time photography.
